Panamá cuenta con 2 de los mayores puertos del mundo. En el año 2015 alcanzó los 3.58 millones de TEU en Colón y 3.29 millones de TEU en Balboa. Un TEU ( acrónimo del término en inglés de Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) es la capacidad de carga de un contenedor normalizado de veinte pies.
